Here I shall be posting my adventures in the world of Morrowind, along with links to the blog is on. I am actually playing this character, and will be roleplaying the best I can. So I won't be power playing. In other words, I won't be running to get all the best stuff right off the bat, my character must KNOW about them before he tries to acquire them.... so who knows what will happen?
“Wake up, we are here. Why are you shaking? Are you okay? Wakeup!” I heard a voice, a Dunmer, speaking to me in my dreams. I suddenly came to. Soaked in sweat, and shaking, I was awake. “Stand up… there you go. You were dreaming. What’s your name?”
I was stunned, I didn’t know what was going on, I was having a vivid dream…. and now…. it all came flooding back, I have been taken from my cell, in the dark of night, and shipped off, to what I assumed was my end… I was placed on this boat with an elf, a Dunmer by the name of Jiub.
“My name is Gabriel…. I’m Gabriel, Breton.” I said as I regained my composure.
“Well, not even last night’s storm could wake you. I heard them say we’ve reached Morrowind, I’m sure they’ll let us go.” He replied as he looked out the door to our small room on the prison ship. “Quiet, here comes the guard.”
As the words left his mouth an Imperial guard barged into the tiny room, pointed at me, and spoke. “This is where they want you, come with me.”
Without a word I followed him from our room, and to a hatch leading to the top deck, where he stopped promptly and told me, “Get yourself up on deck and let’s keep this as civil as possible!” I climbed the stairs and lifted the hatch, fully expecting my doom as I emerged into the sunlight. It took me a second to take it all in, we had not landed at a fort with a prison and executing ground, we were at a dock in a small town. A Redguard ushered me off the boat and to the docks where I was greeted by an Imperial Soldier.
“You’ve finally arrived!” The soldier said jovially. “But our records don’t show from where…”
“Well… I was born in High Rock, I’m a Breton.” I responded.
“Great, I’m sure you’ll fit right in! Follow me up to the office and they’ll finish your release.”
I stood hesitant at the door to the census and excise office… was this a dream? Something felt… odd… not in a bad way though… I was about to be released from prison… to a world that felt strangely familiar… it was almost like I was coming home after years of being away. I felt like it had been forever since I’d been here, yet I never once set foot into Morrowind.
I slowly opened the door to the Census and Excise offices and walked inside. A Breton man stood at a table directly opposite of the door, as I shut the door behind me, he spoke.
“Ah yes, we’ve been expecting you! You’ll have to be recorded before you’re officially released. There are a few ways we can do this, and the choice is yours.” Socucius Ergalla said.
“What do you mean the choice is mine? What exactly do we need to fill out?”
“Well, we need to know your profession, what you did before you were imprisoned, or what you plan to do, and what skills it will incorporate.”
“Oh… a profession… well…” I wasn’t sure at this point… I had only ever been a con artist to get by as a child, and into my teen years, as it was the only way to make money. Growing up, as a Breton, I had a natural knack for magic, and I used it to my advantage in swindling people, I also had weapons at my disposal, not much, just a wooden spear, and a rusted iron sword, but it had been enough to keep me safe. “I never really had a profession, nor do I know one I want to go into.”
“Well, you could tell me your current skill sets, and we can come up with a name for doing whatever it is you like to do. Really, there is no wrong way to do this.” He said as he pulled a quill from an ink jar and prepared to write. “What skills do you posses? Any weapons skills, magic, or perhaps social skills?”
“Well, I am accustomed to many of the magic schools… I am good with Destruction magic, Conjuration, and Alteration… I guess I’m not too bad with Alchemy and Enchanting though either, and I am good with Illusion and Mysticism. So far as weapons, I think I’m fairly okay with swords and spears.”
“All well and good! How about armor types, do you have any skill with those?”
“Well, I used to wear leather armor that I could acquire, so I guess light armor wouldn’t be too bad to put down as a skill.”
“Alright, so I’ve got you down for seven magical class skills, and a few with weapons. What would you call yourself then? Do you intend to use your skills to educate others? Or to fight? Perhaps to entertain to make money? What would you say you would do with such a skill set?”
“Hm… well… I do plan on using my skills for good… and I want to make an impact here, maybe hunt a few bandits, so, I would say fighting!”
“And what would you call yourself? Your profession.”
“Hm… How about Mageblade? I am a mage, that uses blades!”
“Very good. The letter that preceded mentioned you were born under a certain sign, and what would that be?”
“I was born under the sign of The Atronach.”
“Interesting. Now before I stamp these papers, make sure this information is correct.”
I looked over the papers, checking and rechecking, I wanted to make sure everything was spot on, because this was my new life. After a few minutes I looked up from the papers, with a smile on my face, I was about to start a new, fresh chapter in my life. “This all seems right to me,” I said.
Socucius Ergalla took the papers from my hands, placed an imperial stamp on them, and handed them back to me.
“Show your papers to the captain when you exit to get your release fee.” He said to me as he ushered me through a door in his office. The door shut behind me, and I felt I was on my own now. I hurried down the hallway and into a dining room. I glanced over at the table full of food and drink, and for a moment, I was tempted to take the silverware, and the dagger, but I resisted. I had just gotten out of prison, this was my chance to start again, I wasn’t about to go back for petty theft. I opened a door in the dining room that led to a courtyard of sorts. There wasn’t much to see aside from the stone wall that dominated the tiny area, and a barrel of trash next to another door. As I placed my hand on the next door to open it, something in the barrel caught my eye. A ring, and it looked enchanted. The thought crossed my mind, would they notice if I stole it? Was it not just thrown in a barrel with some trash? I took the risk, grabbed the ring, and pocketed it. Regaining my composure and sense of innocence, I opened the door to the office. Inside stood the local guard captain.
“Your papers, please.” He said as I shut the door. “First, let me take your identification papers. Thank you. Word of your arrival only reached me yesterday. I am Sellus Gravius. But my background is not important. I’m here to welcome you to Morrowind.”
“So this is Morrowind… it’s nice… I think I will like it here.”
“Yes. You’re in Morrowind. I don’t know why you’re here. Or why you were released from prison and shipped here. But your authorization comes directly from Emperor Uriel Septim VII himself. And I don’t need to know any more than that. When you leave this office, you are a free man. But before you go, I have instructions on your duties. Instructions from the Emperor. So pay careful attention.”
“Duties? What duties? I was not informed of this before…” I said in a confused voice.
“This package came with the news of your arrival. You are to take it to Caius Cosades, in the town of Balmora. Go to the South Wall Cornerclub, and ask for Caius Cosades — they’ll know where to find him. Serve him as you would serve the Emperor himself. I also have a letter for you, and a disbursal to your name.” He said as he handed me 85 gold and the package with a letter.
“Whoa… hold on… I haven’t ever been to Morrowind, I have no idea where Balmora is.”
“Balmora is north of Seyda Neen. The road passes Pelagiad village and Fort Pelagiad, crosses a deep ravine, passes Fort Moonmoth, then turns west across the Odai River and into Balmora. The South Wall cornerclub is in southeast Balmora, on the east side of the river. For more detailed directions, talk to Elone the Scout at Arrille’s Tradehouse here in Seyda Neen. But take my advice. You’re new here. Take the silt strider to Balmora. Fast, cheap, safe. Cross the bridge and head east. Can’t miss it.”
“Alright… Silt Strider… got it. I will be on my way then.” I said as I rushed out the door before he could fill my head with any more information I could not keep in. I didn’t care about what I was supposed to do, all I cared about was finally being free.

Chapter 1:Seyda Neen And A New Life
11 Dec
“Each event is preceded by prophecy. But without the hero, there is no event.”
-Zurin Arctus, the Underking
In the waning years of the
Third Era of Tamriel,
a prisoner born on a certain day
to uncertain parents was sent
under guard, without explanation, to Morrowind,
ignorant of the role he was
to play in that nation’s history…
I was floating freely, unaware of any sense of direction. Before my eyes powerful images appeared, I could see land, desolate and dry, and as I watched the images flicker before my eyes I felt a strong wind blow. Suddenly words began to appear over the images, written in some elvish language. I felt I could understand it, yet I knew not a word of it… A voice spoke, a powerful female voice, the likes of which I had never heard before, but yet, it was somehow comforting in all the chaos….
“They have taken you from the Imperial City’s prison,
first by carriage and now by boat,
to the east to Morrowind.
Fear not, for I am watchful,
you have been chosen.”
Many fall, but one remains.
