Thanks to a suggestion from our newest member, we have a new thread this is a thread for just... well anything. Tell how your day was or is, talk about future plans, catch up with people you haven't talked with in a while, etc. So far as my day, not too bad. My Buckeye's lost today, but these things happen. We got snow however SNOW!!!! I've missed it so much! Moving up north was a great idea! Got a job interview Monday, so that's a plus, hoping to get the job. If that happens then things will be looking up indeed!

Thanks for opening this type of forum! It's nice to just... chat. I'm not doing too well, I caught some virus and started coughing yesterday, then deteriorated and almost had no voice this morning. I also feel like someone sucked all energy out of me. Probably a reaction to all the stress and lack of sleep lately. My body is demanding rest, it's as simple as that. Now I'm stranded on the sofa with Netflix, tea, and paracetamol. I'm watching a documentary about the Pacific ocean and its islands, and it really inspires me to travel to somewhere where the nature is dramatic, just to take photos. It doesn't have to be a trip to Asia or Polynesia (where I'm too coward to go anyway), we have rather dramatic landscapes here in Sweden in the region where I grew up, or why not in western Ireland.
We don't have snow where I live but the very south of Sweden, and Denmark, received lots last night. They say parts of Copenhagen received around half a metre of snow.. that's so weird. Generally, this week has mostly been coloured by the terror attacks aftermath, there is the same kind of feeling as after 9/11, just that now it's here in Europe, closer, and the terrorists are closer (geographically) than they ever were to the United States. I try to just keep on living but can't help but worry about my husband who is travelling by train from Göteborg to Stockholm tonight. I would worry less if he would drive, seriously.
Good luck on the job interview!!!

Well, I hope your cold or flu goes away quickly, and your husband is fine! Regarding the terrorist attacks, if I lived in an area with a high Muslim population, I'd be nervous. Attacks could happen anywhere, but those doing the attacks usually have a connection in the area. In our state, there's a concentrated population about an hour's drive south. But I can't speak much of it, as I haven't kept up with the news much or what is going on here regarding alerts or anything either. I'm older and am jaded both about the authorities that are supposed to protect us, and about what we can know about it all, anyway. It doesn't help that anytime one wants to talk about it in any real sense one is called a racist or something. Anyway, I didn't check the rest of the board yet, but feel free to get a load off your chest about your work, if you haven't done so already. But whenever you feel comfortable about it, too. As for me, I've been somewhat busy dealing with our new home (an older house that needs repairs & renovation), writing to my friend, applying for jobs, etc. I'm from Michigan, where we are now, but I hadn't driven in the snow in decades! I had to drive in it yesterday to go and get a Thanksgiving turkey; it was very snow-like! (Honestly, though, it was the less-pleasant-to-walk-around-in-damp-kind, blown by wind, and not the big-light-fluffy, falling-gently kind.) It seems early to have a snowfall like that here, but then the weather has been changing. There's what happened in Copenhagen closer to you, but here in the US, the weather in the northern areas has been more severe the last few years too. It's surprising to me that you don't really get snow where you are. I lived in Seattle, Washington, for a year--and it's lovely there--and that northern area gets very little snow, too. The eastern half of that state is moderated by the ocean, but the western half rises up to a plateau, and it get's a lot snow.

We do get snow but haven't had any this year yet, more than some "powder". The big snowfalls usually come around or after Christmas. We had some very snow rich winters in 2009 and 2010, but after that we haven't had much. Around this time 20 years ago, we had a huge storm, when the south west of Sweden was on its knees, everything shut because of extreme amounts of snow fell in less than 24 hours. I remember people were skiing in Göteborg city centre, so weird. I have another online friend, a musician, in Michigan, and he always tells about crazy snow falls. He always said he'd move to Florida to grow old there but it doesn't seem to be possible.
Regarding muslims, although terrorist hide among normal muslims, the real bad guys are just crazy people who want to take power and inflict fear and hate in people. They have no religion. They are just crazy bear claws who do terrible things and say its in God's name. Their targets usually are places like landmarks and train stations and other places where lots of people gather at the same time, so I'm not at all glad that my husband is taking the train between two major cities. But I'm praying he'll be safe.

Well the interview was with a temp agency, and it went well. They'll be helping me find a job. I also have an interview next week with a call center, which will hire me next day if I do well, so there that! Please pray that I find a good job! My health isn't the best in the world (it's downright awful at times) so something easy on the body would be great!

I'm still having the awful cold, can't even say if it's getting better, more than the fact that I slept decently last night.. decently compared to the other last few nights. Otherwise things are good I guess. The first Sunday of Advent is a big holiday in Sweden and the beginning of the Christmas season. Sadly because I've been ill I haven't really done anything, other than taken out the most important decorations (special electrical candles) and I have ginger cookies that I made before I got sick.

Starting a job in plastic injection molding tomorrow... let's see where that leads for God's glory! It's only $9 an hour, but it's temp to hire, so who knows, maybe it'll pay more after 90 days!

I went with my uncle and cousin up to Seattle yesterday to see another cousin of mine perform in the annual 'Sacred Sounds of Christmas' concert hosted by Seattle Pacific University. It was truly a blessing to behold and well worth the 7-hour drive from where we live. We arrived back in Oregon at 4:30am. Tiring, but eventful, sums up the day.

Gabrielman, that's great new! At least it's a paying job and that's great. I hope and pray you'll get a more permanent job.
Yes, now is the time for Christmas concerts. I hope I'll get to go to any.
My cold is slowly getting better and I'm going to work tomorrow. It feels good. Now I just hope I can sleep and not cough too much.

Over here we're hit by first the storm Gorm (in the south of Sweden and at sea mostly), now the storm Helga that is raging outside since two days, and in the UK and Ireland they have the storm Desmond. I guess it's not too bad here where we live but bridges are closed and it's generally miserable outside. Yesterday we had people over for lunch, the group from my Italian conversation class, and we had some good Italian food, this afternoon my husband's employees with girlfriends/wives are coming over for coffee. We're both very tired this weekend, because of night work/bad weather/whatever, so a nice relaxing weekend suits us perfectly.
